Dance Classes for Children in Blackheath

Blackheath School of Dance is governed by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D.), which is one of the largest and most experienced dance examining boards in the world.

At BSOD Ballet is our core dance subject, we also believe that all our other dance styles enhance the performance and technique so each student becomes the best dancer they can be.

No matter what dance style you want your child to learn, we've got most of them covered at Blackheath School of Dance. Through carefully structured classes, we teach correct technique and aim to achieve the highest standards relative to each individual's physique and ability.

Our classes are enjoyable and rewarding but require discipline, commitment and dedication. Our teachers provide a caring and supportive environment in which our students thrive.

Why BSOD?

BSOD is a supportive and friendly school, providing a fun and professional environment. Students develop a passion for dance, make friends for life, and receive an exceptionally high standard of training.

We develop committed, disciplined and resilient dancers.

We run exam sessions 3 times a year for students to progress in ballet, modern and tap, and offer non-examination classes alongside these in Contemporary, Street, Musical Theatre, Acro, Stretching and Body Conditioning, and Pointe Work. Our latest exam sessions had a 100% of students pass with Distinction and Merit even after a year of zoom classes!

Alongside our exams we also have a bi-annual show, this is an opportunity for all our students to get a taste of performing on stage, in a professional theatre setting its a fun celebration of all our hard-work.

For students who wish to take their love and commitment to dance to the next level we also have a competition team for dancers aged 5-18. We are All England Finalists the last two seasons. Students get the chance to perform groups, trios, duets and solos at festivals across the South East.

"Now my girls are so independent; they are dropped off for a few hours on a Saturday, go from class to class with their friends and enjoy the satisfaction of passing exams and progressing through the grades."
